Hi friends! In today’s sketchbook session, I’m creating a loose and whimsical vase of flowers using Kwik Stix Tempera Paint Sticks over a simple acrylic painted background. This painting begins with a single-color acrylic base layer that helps unify the page and creates a colorful foundation for the flowers. From there, I use Kwik Stix to build playful flower shapes, stems, leaves, and details in a relaxed and intuitive way. One thing I enjoy about working with Kwik Stix is how approachable they feel. They encourage experimentation and make it easy to focus on color, shape, and creative play rather than getting caught up in perfection.
This isn’t a realistic floral painting. Instead, I’m embracing loose marks, whimsical forms, and a colorful mixed media approach that keeps the process fun and low-pressure.
