Hi friends! In today’s sketchbook session, I’m using some of the handmade collage papers I created in a previous project to build a whimsical vase of flowers. I love finding ways to incorporate painted papers into my artwork, and this page was the perfect opportunity to put those colorful patterns to use. Rather than creating a realistic bouquet, I focus on playful shapes, layered textures, and intuitive color choices. The collage papers provide interesting patterns and visual variety, while acrylic paint, ink, and NeoArt crayons help tie everything together and add finishing details.
One of my favorite things about making collage papers is that they become a creative resource for future projects. It’s always fun to see how simple painted papers can take on a completely different role once they’re cut, layered, and combined with other materials. This is a relaxed mixed media process video filled with color, experimentation, and creative play.
