Hey everyone! Today, I’m working on a two-page spread in my art journal using some collage elements. I recently made a bunch of Gelli prints, and I pulled out a few that would be perfect as collage paper.
I also found some interesting scraps in my stash: a piece with some liner on it that I fussy cut because the colors were great, some beautifully textured paper from Michaels that I have ideas for, and another piece with a metallic sheen.
So, let’s grab a cup of coffee, chat a bit, and see what kind of magic we can create!
I’m using a glue stick for a faster process, but you can definitely use Mod Podge or any other collage medium you prefer. Once everything is glued down, I might go over it with some matte medium later for extra protection.
I’ll also trim the edges of everything once I’m done collaging so everything looks nice and clean. What do you think of the layout so far?
Alright, let’s keep going! This floral stencil is calling my name. Maybe I can add some copper paint accents to bring out the texture in the paper. Just a light touch on those ridges – I love the way it adds richness!
Now, to tie the two pages together, I’m going to use this stencil with little circles on the other side. I’ll dab some copper paint on a makeup sponge and gently press it onto the stencil.
While that dries, I’ll focus on collaging the other side. There’s probably a million ways to collage, but you just gotta find what works for you.
After some beautiful copper metallic paint and some embellishments, our two-page collage spread is complete. I love the combination of textures, colors, and metallic accents. This project was so much fun, and I hope you enjoyed creating with me today!
If you have any gel prints lying around, definitely use them for collage – they’re amazing!
