Hey everyone, it’s Kate back with another abstract watercolor painting session. Today, I’m just diving into some experimentation, playing around with different shapes and strokes to see where it takes me. I’m using my trusty Komorebi watercolor set from MozArt because I’m really digging the pigments in these colors. Currently, I’m working on a six by nine-inch piece of 100% cotton watercolor paper (Bee Paper), which is my go-to for watercolor projects.
Right now, I’m working with shades of gray, burnt umber, and dipping into one of my favorite turquoise colors. I’m just letting the colors flow and exploring different brush strokes, from lines to blobs to circles. There’s no specific plan here; it’s all about enjoying the process and seeing what emerges.
Oh, and you might hear my cat, Scamp, making an occasional appearance in the background. She’s a natural show-stealer, always wanting attention. But hey, that’s just part of the fun, right?
As I layer the paints, I’m mindful of avoiding muddiness and preserving transparency. It’s all about finding that balance between colors and maintaining the integrity of each brushstroke. Sometimes things don’t dry as quickly as I’d like, leading to a bit of unintentional blending, but hey, imperfections are part of the journey too.
I’ve made plenty of pieces I’m not thrilled with, but each one teaches me something new. It’s all about progress, not perfection. And speaking of progress, I’m excited to keep experimenting with different art supplies and techniques. Who knows what I’ll try next?
If you’re waiting to start your own creative journey, remember, there’s no perfect time. Just grab your supplies and dive in. Whether you end up loving what you create or not, the important thing is that you’re enjoying the process.
Until next time, keep creating!
