Hi friends! Settle in for the long haul… a Temu art supply haul! I’ll be testing a new watercolor palette, rice paper, quill paint brushes, acrylic paint pens, metallic markers, golden ink, and more! I think I found a few hidden gems! Join me for an in-depth video, sharing my first impressions, and testing of these various art supplies.
First up are these palette knives. They felt a little rough out of the packaging, but surprisingly sturdy. They’re unfinished wood, which keeps the cost down for the whole set. I’m not sure how they’ll hold up over time, but they seem perfect for experimenting with.
Next, I grabbed a couple of color wheels. I sometimes struggle picking a palette, and these little guides seem handy for inspiration. They were just a couple dollars each and come in different variations, showing tints, shades, complementary colors, and more.
Quill brushes were high on my wishlist! They can be super expensive, but I found these for a few bucks each. One arrived a little damaged in shipping, but overall, they feel nice and full with a good point.
I also snagged some acrylic paint markers, both white and black, and some gold and silver metallic markers. I’m always on the hunt for a good white marker, so hopefully these do the trick!
Rounding out the painting supplies is some golden ink, which I’m curious to try on paper.
Now, for something completely different – a watercolor palette! It’s called the Ocean 24 Color Retro Watercolor Palette, and it feels pretty hefty. These are half pans, but the colors look great – kind of earthy with a glittery surprise!
The rice paper they sent me is super wrinkled, but hey, it was only a few bucks so I can’t complain. It’s thin and translucent, and I’m eager to see how it compares to regular watercolor paper.
Speaking of watercolor paper, I grabbed a piece of my usual cotton B paper to do some swatches alongside the rice paper.
Let’s get swatching!
