Swatching and Trying New MeiLiang Watercolor Palette: Unboxing and First Impressions

Swatching and Trying New MeiLiang Watercolor Palette Unboxing and First Impressions

Hey everyone, it’s Kate! I’m finally doing a video on this new 48-color MeiLiang watercolor palette. I just got it a couple of months ago and I’ve been excited to try it out.

The packaging looks nice and it has a swatch chart, which is helpful. Some people online mentioned that the colors on the swatch chart might not exactly match the colors in the pan, so I’ve listed all of the differences in the video. Unwrapping all the pans was a bit of a chore, but they seem to be secure and they come in their own little pans. The metallics are really shiny and all the paints have a nice glossy look to them.

I like that this palette has a built-in mixing tray in the lid. It’s much better than my other Komorebi watercolor palette where the swatch chart is glued to the lid. With this one, I can actually use the lid for mixing, which I much prefer.

When I swatched the colors, they seemed to activate really nicely with water. The pigment comes right up onto the brush and the colors go down really smooth. I also like that they seem to be richly pigmented.

There are a few color label mismatches between the swatch chart and the pans, but I’ll post a list of the discrepancies in the video description.

Overall, I’m really impressed with this palette so far. The colors seem nice and vibrant and there’s a good range of colors to choose from. The metallics look especially promising. I can’t wait to play around with them more!

I also did a little loose rose painting to test out the paints. I love that the mixing tray lid is so handy, and the whole palette seems very well-designed.

Even though this painting isn’t perfect, I really enjoyed using this palette and I think I’m going to get a lot of use out of it. Thanks for watching!
