Hey everyone, it’s Kate! Today, I’m excited to create some journal collage pieces with you. I’ve got my Bristol paper pad out, which has smooth, thick paper perfect for this project. We’re going to make some embellishments that I’ll make printable on my website for free. Let’s dive in!
Starting with some fine liners and a brush pen, I’m sketching out various elements. I love this loose, organic style—it adds a nice touch to the pieces. We’ll sketch out leaves, circles, geometric shapes, and even a vase with some flowers.
Once I’m happy with the sketches, I’ll lightly color them with watercolor. I’m using a dryer brush to maintain the paper’s integrity and I’m also keeping a consistent color theme throughout. With a mix of greens, blues, purples, and reds, we’re adding light washes of color to our sketches.
These elements can be cut out and used in collages, art journals, or any other artwork you like! I’ve scanned them and made them available in my free download section here.
Thanks for watching, and until next time, keep creating!
