In-Depth Testing Metallic Markers and Paint Pens! [Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree Art Supply Haul]

Hey everyone, it’s Kate! I’m back with another art supply haul, this time from a mix of places—Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree. So, let’s dive right in! My main mission at Hobby Lobby was to snag some markers, and while I was there, I got a bit carried away. I thought, why not turn this into an unboxing and art haul video? So, that’s what we’re doing today. I’ll be testing out some of these goodies so you can see how they perform.

First up from Hobby Lobby, I got these Painters Permanent Markers. They’re opaque paint markers in black, with three different tip sizes: ultra-fine, fine, and medium. I’ve already tried them out, and let me tell you, they write like a dream. Smooth and firm on the page. The ultra-fine tip is great for detailed work, while the medium tip lays down some serious ink. Plus, they’re permanent, which is a bonus. I even did a quick water test to show you how they hold up—spoiler alert: they’re waterproof!

Next, I stumbled upon these Craft Decor Chalk Writers, which were cheaper at Dollar Tree than at Hobby Lobby. But unfortunately, they weren’t quite what I expected. They write more like crayons and the metallic sheen isn’t as shiny as I’d hoped. They’re okay, but not my favorite.

Moving on to the Loddie Doddie Chalk Marker from Hobby Lobby. It’s not permanent like the Painters markers, but it does the job. It writes smoothly, although it’s not 100% opaque. Still, it’s a decent chalk marker for various surfaces.

Now, let’s talk about the real stars of the show—the paint markers! I got gold and silver paint markers, all from Hobby Lobby. These babies are permanent, water-resistant, and fast-drying. They’re perfect for multi-surface use, indoors or outdoors. I gave them a test run, and wow, they’re impressive. The gold and silver markers have a beautiful metallic sheen. The white one is surprisingly opaque. Just be careful with the white—mine leaked a bit, but it could just be that particular marker I picked up. I won’t judge the brand based on that one experience because the metallics performed beautifully.

Lastly, from Dollar Tree, I grabbed some metallic markers and a glass writer from Crafter Square. These are more budget-friendly options, and they’re not bad for the price. The metallic markers have decent opacity and blendability, although the silver one was dry. The glass writer was a pleasant surprise—it wrote smoothly and had a nice color, but it’s not as shiny as the paint markers.

Overall, I had a blast testing out these art supplies, and I hope you found this haul helpful! Thanks for watching, and until next time, happy creating!
