Easy Watercolor & Alcohol Ink Flower Doodles

Easy Watercolor & Alcohol Ink Flower Doodles

Hey guys, it’s Kate, and I’m back today with a double tutorial for beginners using my new Komorebi watercolor set from MozArt. I’m going to show you how to create two quick abstracts – one that could be used as a background for collage or as a focal point itself. It’s amazing how the same painting can look completely different just by placing objects in different areas.

So, grab your watercolor set and some alcohol inks – you can even use regular rubbing alcohol for this. I actually used homemade inks in this video, and if you’re interested, I can make a video on how to make them. They’re super easy and really fun to use.

I’m starting off by creating a quick background using three colors. I’m dividing my paper into thirds and spraying it with some water to help the colors spread. Then, I’m adding some alcohol ink drops on top while the paint is still wet. This creates a cool texture effect as the ink pushes aside the watercolor.

Next, I’m grabbing my Gelly Roll pen and doodling some flowers on top of the background. I’m using dark circles with the white Gelly Roll and adding some black fine liner details on the teal bubbles. It’s all about experimenting and seeing what works best for you.

As I doodle these flowers, it reminds me of when I was a kid and used to doodle them all over my school notebooks. It’s funny how certain things bring back memories like that.

I’m just working my way around the page, being careful not to smear the ink since I’m spending time putting it on. Once I finish, I’ll let it dry and move on to the next one.

For the second abstract, I’m using the same colors for the background but placing them differently. This time, I’m concentrating more on the top half of the paper to create a bouquet of flowers.

I ran into a little problem with the alcohol ink bleeding into the watercolor, but I managed to fix it and save the piece. That’s the thing about fluid art – there’s always a solution if something doesn’t go as planned.

Once I finish adding the alcohol ink drops, I’ll let it dry and then go in with my Gelly Roll pen to doodle some flowers again. This time, I’ll add some stems at the bottom to balance out the composition.

So, which one do you like better? And how would you use these backgrounds in future projects? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for watching, and don’t forget to check out my other videos if you enjoyed this one. Until next time, keep creating!
