Hi friends, it’s Kate! I made a greeting card using acrylic paints to look like a patchwork quilt. I used five colors: green, blue, yellow, light brown, and white on heavy card stock, but you can use mixed media paper, watercolor paper, or anything you like.
I scattered the paint around in different rectangular sizes, making sure the same colors wouldn’t be next to each other in the final design. Any paint that crossed over the edge can be quickly cleaned up with a baby wipe!
I used a flat brush to paint the rectangles, but any brush will do. I wanted the look to be hand-done and a little messy, so I didn’t worry about making the lines perfectly straight.
Once the paint dried, I used a blue Posca pen to add stitching around the edges of the painted squares. I also used a blue stamp to add a sentiment to the card.
This card was fun and easy to make, and it took less than ten minutes. I hope this inspires you to get creative with some homemade greeting cards! They can be made with basic supplies and you can put your own personal touch on them. Until next time, keep creating!
