Easy Abstract Watercolor Painting Test MozArt Komorebi Palette

In today’s video, I’m diving into a new watercolor set, the MozArt Komorebi with 40 colors! To get a feel for the paints, I decided to create an abstract piece. I started with washes of pinks, violets, and my favorite, turquoise. This paint is super pigmented, a little goes a long way! I’m using 100% cotton watercolor paper (Bee Paper) for this piece. Watercolors are so relaxing, you can really go with the flow, but sometimes controlling them can be a challenge.

After letting the watercolor layer dry, I added some metallic gold accents. It kind of reminds me of gemstones, with a subtle shine. Here’s the thing though, I wasn’t sure if I should stop here. Should I add more? In the end, I decided to keep going and see how black and white accents would look for contrast. The black paint is fantastic – really easy to lay down and very pigmented.

For some extra texture and contrast, I dotted in some white accents. Unfortunately, they faded a bit as they dried. No worries though, I whipped out a gel pen to bring those white dots back to life! Speaking of colors, I’m totally obsessed with the turquoise. Actually, I’m curious what you all think. Which version of the painting do you prefer? The one with just the gold accents, or the one with the black and white too? Let me know in the video comments! I also have a couple of other abstract watercolors using this set coming up, plus some collages, so stay tuned!
