DIY Collage Papers with Alcohol Inks, Watercolor, and the Dollar Tree Paper Pack

Hey guys, it’s Kate! Thanks for tuning in for another video today. I’m really excited because we’re going to dive into some fun stuff together. Today, we’re going to work on creating some backgrounds using homemade alcohol inks. Yep, you heard that right—I made these bad boys using permanent markers and rubbing alcohol. It’s a pretty cool DIY project, if I do say so myself. So, I’ve got my homemade alcohol inks ready to go, but I also brought out my MozArt watercolors because, well, why not? We’ll be using those too.

Now, let’s talk paper. I’ve got these papers from Dollar Tree—$1.25 a pack, can you believe it? They’re versatile little things, perfect for all sorts of crafts. I’ve got some cream-colored ones and some construction paper pieces. They’re just begging to be experimented with. Seriously, the colors, textures, and thicknesses are awesome to work with. Plus, they’re super affordable, which is always a win in my book.

Before we dive in, let me show you what we’re aiming for. Check out this beauty I made earlier. I used some gold paint marker for those sparkly touches. It’s all about getting creative and seeing what happens.

I’ve got my first piece of paper ready to roll. Now, you can use a brush or even a dropper bottle for this. I’m gonna go with the dropper because, well, it’s just more fun that way. No need to stress about where the alcohol’s gonna land—just go with the flow, quite literally. It’s all about those happy accidents and embracing the unexpected.

So, I’m thinking some blue, hot pink, and maybe a splash of yellow for good measure. There’s something oddly satisfying about watching those colors dance across the paper. And hey, if it gets a little messy, no biggie—it adds character!

Once I’m satisfied with the colors, it’s onto the next piece. This time, let’s go with some gray. I’m gonna grab my brush and start painting away. Think of it like watercoloring, but with a twist. You can get some really cool textures going on here, just by playing around with different strokes and techniques.

Now, let’s add a pop of purple. Dots, lines, whatever floats your boat—just have fun with it! And don’t worry about perfection, because honestly, imperfection is where the real beauty lies.

Alright, let’s spice things up with a little teal action. I love how vibrant this color is. And again, just let loose and see where the alcohol ink takes you. Who knows, you might stumble upon your new favorite technique!

Oh, and let’s not forget about these chalk writers. They’re like crayons, but with a twist. A little water, a little scribbling, and you’ve got yourself some funky textures. It’s all about experimenting and pushing those creative boundaries.

And of course, we can’t forget about watercolors. I’m gonna mix things up with some brown and yellow, just to see what happens.

And would you look at that? We’ve got ourselves a whole collection of gorgeous backgrounds, just waiting to be turned into something magical. Seriously, who knew a few markers, some paper, and a little alcohol ink could lead to so much creative goodness?

I hope you enjoyed this little crafting adventure as much as I did. Until next time, keep creating and let your imagination run wild!
