Hey everyone! Today I’m feeling like playing with some reds and oranges in watercolor. I started with a nice, juicy layer of Madder Red, letting the paint flow freely. This watercolor is all about being intuitive and letting the colors do their thing!
Next, I wanted to add a green but accidentally grabbed Payne’s Grey instead. Happy accidents sometimes lead to the coolest effects, though! I spritzed some water on the page and let the gray mingle with the red, creating a beautiful, unexpected wash.
I continued adding layers of color, a deep Hooker’s green and more of the red pigment. This part was all about trusting my gut and letting the colors blend together organically. There’s a real beauty in the messiness of watercolor!
Once I was happy with the base colors, I decided to add some gold details using a Uniball gel pen. I doodled some whimsical flowers and sketched some lines to create more visual interest. I love how the gold pops against the reds and greens!
This entire piece was an experiment, and I’m really happy with how it turned out! It’s loose, it’s messy, and it’s full of personality. Watercolor is all about having fun and not being afraid to make mistakes. Sometimes, the unexpected results are the most beautiful ones.
I hope you enjoyed watching me play with watercolors today! If you did, be sure to give the video a thumbs up, and subscribe to my channel for more creative adventures. Happy creating!
